Recycled Assemblage

ARTSY - http://www.artsy.etsy.com/ I don't think it gets any better than this. Think recycling is a pain in the butt, boring, painfully responsible? Not when you consider the things you could make from all that junk! Let your imagination lead you astray...or for those happy to settle for "curious art collector" find your one-of-a-kind masterpiece @ http://www.artsy.etsy.com/ .ESPRESSO FAMILY - recycled aluminum coffee pots and cue balls happily combine to create this whimsical family. I think every kitchen needs one. www.artsy.etsy.com Cameras, cue balls, dice and dominoes are used to fashion this assemblage of camera sculptures. Perfect gift for that photographer you know. www.artsy.etsy.com That old mixer may not work, but your kitchen definitely will benefit from it's groovy retro presence. Feels like grandma's in the room! And whooda thunk there'd be a fun way to use an old discarded reflector? I love how this artist's mind works! www.artsy.etsy.com RANDOM TROPHIES - I am SOOO glad someone found something to do with these tacky trophies! Funny how they don't look so tacky...they'd be a perfect addition to that little boy's bedroom! www.artsy.etsy.com and an hilarious heirloom to boot.

Cracked Pots - Art from Recycled Materials

I had to temporarily close my etsy shop, artsyrubbish, to get ready for this event. I can't wait to meet the people behind this wonderful organization and display my recycled glass mosaic tiles at the funky venue, McMenamins Grand Lodge. It should be tons of fun. I'm dying to see the rest of the artists and what they've manifested from "trash" for this show. Cracked Pots uses art to encourage our communities to creatively look at trash. Reuse is at the heart of all they do. Their motto "THINK BEFORE YOU THROW"
I'll try to get some photos of the jewelry, small-scale sculpture, collage and wearables to share with you upon my return!

Yellow Dog Vintage

Yellow Dog Vintage - http://www.yellowdogvintage.etsy.com/ A mother/daughter team along with their good friend and mascot, Shawnee (their beloved 13 year old yellow lab) are about to launch a shop on Etsy. A groovy blend of offbeat vintage home decor and hard-to-find vintage clothing and accessories. They're not open yet, but check back in a few days to find some fabulous stuff that's sure to satisfy your desire to be authentic and hip.

ReUse Recycle Restore

Restored Fj40 - I have a friend who restores Toyota Land Cruisers. This is a shot of me preparing one of the "tubs" for restoration. I playfully joke with my friend Scott, http://www.restoredfj40.com/ , that I couldn't really include him in my blog until he figures out how to convert these cars into more fuel-efficient machines, but alas...that may take awhile!

I can't help but admire the way he transforms one of these "rust buckets" into what looks and drives like a brand new car. If these babies got better gas mileage, I'd be driving one myself.

Even the nuts and bolts, electrical wire...you name it...is restored and reused in the finished "work of art".
