Tangle and Fold - The Joy of Recycling

So here's how it happened. A long long time ago in a land called Indiana there lived a girl named Charity Strange. A gypsy at heart, she started her design line called TANGLe. She'll make you a scarf and build you a smile. Uninspired by her current atmosphere she moved to the big city, New York City that is. There she met this hippie with a Soul Rebel type of feel, Jonathan. It was Love at first sight. Jonathan is the founder of FoLd. He invented his signature paper flower creations and folds after meeting Charity. "I'll build you a world filled with paper flowers", he said, they've been together ever since. They're original idea was to open up a shop called "Flowers for Charity", instead they decided to TANGLe up their creativity and open up TANGLe & FoLd...

Paper Flowers- All of our flowers were invented by Jonathan, the founder of Fold, they are all original one of a kind designs. They are all composed of up-cycled magazines or books. The stems on the flowers are made from recycled wire hangers, which means you can bend the stem in any way you like! They're all handmade and take anywhere from 3 to 5 hours to make just one! No watering needed :o)

Bendable Yoga Necklaces - Our bendable necklaces are....... BeNdAbLe!!!! They are yoga inspired and they're really fun and one of a kind. Wear the same necklace in a different way every day. Tangle Tangle whats your angle?

Legwarmers - The legwarmers in our shop were all invented and created by Charity Strange, the founder of Tangle. Each one has her unique corset design in the back which makes it adjustable to any pair of legs. Each design is one of a kind and never duplicated. They are very intricately made and with style and details in mind, they take between 5 to 7 hours to make.

Recycled Sweaters, Jewelry, Coffee Bags-Oh My!!

Recycle
Sweaters, jewelry, coffee bags...Oh My!
I really enjoyed searching for these first samples of recycled products from Etsy. Miscusi's makes one-of-a-kind pieces from old sweaters. I love her process. She unravels, washes, then knits these fibers into the most wonderfully unique pieces. I love the green mittens...if you love them too, better hurry and scoot to her shop (http://www.miscusi.etsy.com/) cuz she says she doesn't feel like making any more. She has other stuff, though, that's sure to please even the most hip dresser...I can't explain...you must see for yourself. Pendantflair caught my eye, as I too love anything with text. I know how to solder, and believe me, it's not that easy. I was quick to appreciate her clean lines and love the simplicity of her designs. This will definitely be a place I'll be coming back to before my daughter's birthday! Go to http://www.pendantflair.etsy.com/ to see more of her work. She offers beautiful recycled bling at affordable prices! Last but not least...Sewgreen! I love the "Martha Stewart-ish" coffee bean sacks repurposed as shabby chic pillows. The local roaster has found a wonderful recycling outlet in Sewgreen. Find her little shop at http://www.sewgreen.etsy.com/.

Welcome to the recycling movement!

Hi, Glad you're here. You've either stumbled on this blog by accident or you are one of the increasing number of souls attracted to a better way of buying and being. I never dreamed I'd be among the blogging masses but recently realized it would be a great way to make recycled goods available to those who are committed to the cause. It may also be a great way to entice those of you who think recycled products are "trash". When I was raising my children they would often ask, "Mom, why do things have to be so hard?" "Try to find the diamond in the rough," I would say. They would give me a doubtful look..."okay, maybe sometimes it seems more like foil in the dirt...just look for something sparkly". I try to take my own advice. A self taught artist, I've played with all kinds of different media, but have fallen in love with glass. I used to have the habit of mindlessly flipping through magazines and wishing I had all the homes, gadgets, clothes, bodies(!), hair, etc... As I've gotten older (40's) and hopefully a little wiser, I know that none of that would ever bring me happiness. Not even close. I flip through these magazines now and I see colors, shapes, words-AHA! another medium! Using magazines recycled from libraries, glass from the hardware store's "dump" pile, and ceramic tiles left over from building projects, I design one-of-a-kind 6x6 inch decorative glass mosaic tiles. 100%RECYCLED--Yeehaw! Come back soon to see photos of my stuff and MORE!!
